William Mogale

Department Manager, AIDC
South Africa

I have obtained the following qualifications: Diploma in Technical Education and Training, Further Diploma in Education (FDE), Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Bed) and Master’s Degree in Business Leadership (MBL). Currently studying Doctoral Degree in Organisational Leadership (DBA).

I have an extensive teaching, training and development experience. I worked as a training officer and manager in the industry, training apprentices and company employees. I was a lecturer, senior lecturer, head of department (HoD) as well as Campus Manager (TVET College principal). I was also instrumental in the merging of TVET colleges in South Africa, merging the then Technical Colleges from 150 to 50 TVET colleges. This was done by visiting the United Kingdom (UK) TVET colleges in 1996, 2002 and 2004 with a view to study their merging model in order to customise it for the South African context.

I am current the Industry Skills Development and Training Manager at Automotive Industry Development Centre (AIDC), managing three centres, namely; Trade Test centre, Learning Centre as well as the Skills Development and Training projects.  The Trade Test Centre conducts assessments for various trade offerings in the industry and for the TVET institutions. This centre conducts gap analysis for employees who do not have trades and qualifications. The Learning Centre offers learnerships and full skills (as well as part qualifications) in various disciplines (both soft and technical). The centre offers lecturer and student training for the TVET sector. It further addresses lecturer and student placements in various industries. The project centre for Skills Development and Training addresses the practical component for apprentices, learner technicians and engineers at various workplaces.
